Why does Bandicam lag me more than Fraps does?

Wed Nov 14, 2012 6:18 am

Recently I was testing Bandicam and Fraps to use to record "Crossfire" I found that with Fraps, I didnt get any fps higher then 60, but it was very stable and the FPS wasn't chunky while playing. But with Bandicam I didn't get a stable FPS having it on "Set FPS Limit" as 60. It was usually 40 or 30 while playing, dropping up and down each second. But it stayed between 30 and 40. By the way on Bandicam I used ;Full Size, 60 FPS, MPEG-1, VBR Checked, and 80 Quality, for sound I used PCM codec.

My PC Specs are:

Re: Why does Bandicam lag me more than Fraps does?

Wed Nov 14, 2012 7:43 am

The reason Bandicam lags more than Fraps is because Fraps records raw files, while Bandicam compresses them while recording, therefore using more resources.

Is there a way in the settings in Bandicam to make it so it doesn't compress while recording?

Not really, but there is a recording preset you can try out, which is "Low-end PC".

I was testing Bandicam and Fraps to use to record "Crossfire" I found that with Fraps, I didnt get any fps higher then 60, but it was very stable and the FPS wasn't chunky while playing. But with Bandicam I didn't get a stable FPS having it on "Set FPS Limit" as 60.
1. What is your Bandicam version?
- Please download the latest version of Bandicam from http://www.bandicam.com/downloads/

2. What is the resolution of the video you recorded?
Bandicam usually uses less CPU/RAM/GRAPHIC CARD than Fraps, but if the video resolution is higher than 1080p, Bandicam can have more lags than Fraps because Bandicam has to compress a big video file.
Is there a way in the settings in Bandicam to make it so it doesn't compress while recording?
If you use "Motion JPEG" and "PCM" codec, you can reduce the lag.

My Bandicam version is 1.7.5.

And I recorded in Full Size, the game resolution was 1024x768.

Please download the latest version of Bandicam from http://www.bandicam.com/downloads/ (1.8.4 or higher)

The old version could have a lag because of some bugs.

I know this is a bit late, but can't you just use the RGB24 option to record uncompressed video?

I guess the problem is another one, try lowering the recording quality in Bandicam settings. This can reduce the load on your system and potentially stabilize your FPS. Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause performance issues. Close any unnecessary applications running in the background while you're recording. These can take up system resources and affect your FPS. If you're using the MPEG-1 codec, consider switching to a different one. 3d modeling programs and videos recorder like bandicam include different codecs. Some codecs are more resource-intensive than others.
