FPS cap

Tue May 31, 2011 12:39 pm

With the new version of Bandicam you can input a numerical FPS cap. However it seems no matter what you enter in there, the video is recorded at 60 FPS. I currently own Fraps and use it to record games at 120 FPS. The high fps is very needed for slowing anything down so it still looks smooth.

I want to buy this but this is really a deal breaker for me. Would this be something that can be changed or maybe forced? Perhaps added in a new version?

Other than that this looks good.

Hello blindrob,

This is Zun from Bandisoft.

The maximum FPS of Bandicam video is 60 FPS.
As you may know, Movie is 24 FPS and TV is 30 FPS.
We think 60 FPS is enough for the recorded video.

If more users ask over 60 FPS, we will add the function...

Thank you for using Bandicam.

Best Regards,
Zun

Alright then. I see no reason to not let the user enter in their own desired FPS rate however. Sure you can only see about 60-75 FPS, but I'm doing a lot more with this video than just uploading to youtube.

Thanks for the response. Back to fraps in the mean time then.

Do you mind if I ask you what you're doing with the over 60 fps video?
If we think it is necessary, we will add the function soon.

Thanks in advance.

Zun

I do video editing with game clips. if you slow down video at 60 FPS past .5 playback speed you are now under 30 FPS, and this will start to become choppy. recording at 120FPS lets you slow down video to .25 speed while still keeping about 30 FPS making for a nice slow effect.

Often in black ops for example, when people make movies they record at 30 or 60 FPS but slow the game down to .2x while watching the reply, you can then re-render the video at normal speed, making it150/300 FPS respectively. This lets you slow down the video about as slow as you could want and still have it super smooth.

I'm recording live game play however, so I need to record at a high FPS while playing. With Fraps I record at 120, going higher causes the FPS to drop time to time and be inconstant. With Bandicam I think I would be able to record at 150+ while playing with out issues. However the program just won't let you.

So, I want to record at what ever FPS I want to be able to slow down the video later on, while still keeping a 30+ frame rate in order to look smooth on rendered video.

Humm, sounds good. I'll have to check it out. Thanks.
Just a shame it has no support for Sony Vegas.

I, too, would like 120 fps recording.

Twixtor doesn't do that great of a job with games. Also, I render it to 60 fps with field blending which looks really nice and smooth for people who don't have 120fps monitors. Just take a look at this link:

Extremely smooth. I also used Fraps to record 120fps, but it sometimes gets slow. If you implement 120 FPS recording, and the trial does me justice, I will buy Bandicam. Thanks.

I would also like to see this limit removed.

Same reason.. recording with the ability to slow down footage afterwards.

Hi,

Please try the latest version of Bandicam. (Bandicam 1.8.0 or higher)
We changed the maximum FPS from 60 to 120.

* You have to manually enter 120 at the FPS menu. (No. 2)
