H.264 Video Editing with Sony Vegas

Sun Dec 14, 2014 9:14 pm

Hi,

I have question for: http://www.bandicam.com/support/tips/h264-fourcc/

Is there any way to edit recorded video with 150 keyframe interval in Sony Vegas? Recording with 1 keyframe makes files much bigger.

Hi Livo,

The best option for Sony Vegas is 'Motion JPEG and PCM" or "H264/PCM with 1 keyframe".
If you choose a 1-keyframe interval, you can precisely edit the video.

You may try a 150-keyframe interval to reduce the file size.
However, sometimes it can have a problem in video editing software.

If I may pop in with a suggestion, Bandicam's new MP4 File Type, although utilizing H.263, is highly compatible with Sony's Vegas line of products and remains compatible for editing even when using higher Keyframe intervals to help reduce file size [tested up to 300 frames]. I have found it also does not produce the 'glitchy' or 'corrupted' video problem ("with trails" some may say), when using larger Keyframe intervals, that H.264/AVC was producing. Perhaps try that, for editing in Vegas, if you wish.

» Note that Seeking (the video editing program 'catching up' to where you wish to begin editing) may take longer [be slower] when using large keyframe intervals.
