External codec - x264/h264 with After Effects

Sun Sep 08, 2013 11:32 pm

Hi, i am having problems with this subject.
I will break this down in 2 questions for you.

1)i have downloaded the external codec x264vfw here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw ... 20x264vfw?
and installed it. But i am not able to download x264vfw64. (Where is the link?) Or is it included in the latest file?

2) I followed all the installation steps gives for this external codec and set it up in the right way according to: http://www.bandicam.com/faqs/vfw-x264-x ... 264-codec/. Also added the --keyint 1 so i can edit with Adobe Premiere,
but It is not working. What to do? I followed the steps (changed the 4 red marked boxes and added the line)

Additional information: When i open the files in any movie viewer (VLC, Windows Media Player, etc.) it is all fine, but when i open them in After Effects i only see an movie with Audio lines on it. No image and even despite the audio lines also no proper audio.

Help would be appreciated,
Greetings, Hevlex

Yeah if somebody could give me a direct download link to the x264vfw64 file instead of http://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw/files/. Cause it will not allow to download from it.

Looking for the latest version? Download x264vfw_38_2274bm_36885.exe (1.1 MB) is the other file. Besides that i have no clue as why it is not working. And i would like a refund of the program than. Since other codecs are bad in size and quality. And won't allow me to edit.

Like expected i missed indeed the x264vfw64 file (since i run windows 7 - 64 bit) For people having the same problem finding it. (you need to dig in the second map and than first map's. till you hit the core .exe program which you can download than.

Link: http://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw ... 4bm_36885/

Now only the recorded audio is giving a high pitch. But when i record i also ask a separate .wav file of the audio. So i can just mute the original sound and place that under it.
