Well, that’s where Bandicam Video Recorder comes in.
If you have a capture card or TV tuner card (hardware), you can capture a VCR/Camcorder, DVD, Set-Top Box, Xbox/PlayStation, Apple TV/HDTV or smartphone and save it as a video file (*.mp4, *.avi) like the digital video recorder (DVR) does.
To capture an external video device, please connect the external device to your capture card and follow the steps below:
- Step 1: Download/install Bandicam and choose 'Device Recording' mode.
- Step 2: Select the device you want to record.
- Step 3: Select the video size, FPS, and color space.
- Step 4: If you can see the device screen, click the [ ● REC ] to start the recording.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
If you see an error message that says "Failed to initialize the video capture device,"
- Select another video size
from the format selection menu, or - Turn off the “Use custom audio device” option and try again.
- Please uninstall/exit the other webcam program, and reinstall the latest version of the webcam/capture device driver.
- If you still see an error message, please send a screenshot of
the format selection menu to bandicam@bandicam.com
If you have a USB capture device,
- Please plug the device into a USB 3.0 slot.
- A PCI/PCI-E capture card is usually better than a USB capture card.
