HEVC/H.264 (NVIDIA® NVENC) encoder for video editing

Hardware acceleration, NVENC, HEVC/H264 Bandicut supports the hardware-accelerated HEVC/H.264 (NVIDIA® NVENC) encoder which allows you to cut, trim, split, join and convert videos at a higher speed than the software-based encoder. If you use Windows 7 or a later OS and GTX 600 or higher NVIDIA graphics cards, you can encode videos faster than the H.264 (CPU) encoder.

* [Encoding mode - Encoding Settings] and select "HEVC/H264 (NVIDIA® NVENC)"

Import the video file, click [Start - Encoding mode - Encoding Settings], and then select the "HEVC/H.264 (NVIDIA® NVENC)" encoder.

If you cannot select the "HEVC/H.264 (NVIDIA® NVENC)" option...

If you cannot see the "HEVC/H.264 (NVIDIA® NVENC)" option from Bandicut, please try the solutions below:

  1. Nvidia® NVENC encoder is available in Windows 7, 8, and 10.

If you use 'Windows XP' or 'Windows Vista,' the "H264 (Nvidia® NVENC)" menu will not be shown.

  2. Update your graphics card driver.

Download the latest Nvidia video card driver from https://www.geforce.com/drivers

  3. Check whether your computer has an NVENC-capable GPU

    • Desktop GPU: Geforce GTX 600 series, QUADRO/TESLA(K series) or higher graphics cards.
    • Laptop GPU: GTX 660M, 670MX, 675MX, 680M, 700M or higher graphics cards.
  4. Nvidia® NVENC encoder is available with the latest version of Bandicut.

Nvidia® NVENC H.264 encoder is available from Bandicut 3.5.0.

H.264 (CPU) is slower than the hardware-based encoder.
  • Even if you use the "HEVC/H264(NVIDIA NVENC)" encoder, the editing speed is slower than the [High-Speed mode] mode.
  • All things considered, our recommendation is "High-Speed mode > HEVC/H264(NVIDIA NVENC) > AV1/HEVC/H264(Intel Quick Sync Video) > AV1/HEVC/H264(AMD VCE/VCN) > H.264(CPU)."
